Eurovision Asia 2018: Who Should Compete?

The Eurovision Song Contest of course allows countries from Europe to showcase their talent. So shouldn’t the Asia-Pacific contest be called something else? They’re just my thoughts! It seems that the most obvious name “Asiavision” can’t be used, as there is already a news service with this name!

It seems that the public are able to take part, and choose which artists will compete.

Around 20 countries will take part in the televised event!

The organisers have made the following statement:

We are taking the biggest live televised music show – Eurovision – to the biggest music audience in the world,” organisers write on their websites. “Countries from the Asia-Pacific region will be able to compete in their own version of the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time.”

“Each country will showcase their songwriting and performing talent to Asia and the world and compete to be crowned the winner of the first ever Eurovision Asia Song Contest.”

A blue and purple caption explains that the “Eurovision Asia Song Contest will closely resemble the Eurovision Song Contest.

I think that the following artists would do well in the competition.

SHINee 샤이니

With countless music genres and styles under their belts, they’re definitely a strong candidate. They appeal to numerous audiences around Asia, as well as internationally. If they performed one of their classic ballads or slow jams, there would be no contests!

The Barberettes

I’ve seen them perform live, in London. They’re three young women with such old souls! Their retro 50’s and 60’s vibe and style appeal to everyone; and their vocal range and harmonies are second to none.

Day6

They play their own instruments! They’re a band. They have killer voices and are so underrated it hurts! Do I need to say anymore?

FT Island

With ten years of hits under their belt, their strong instrumental line and Lee Hong Ki’s 이홍기 unforgettable, soul-piercing, raspy voice! It’s a concoction that equals inevitable success!

Akdong Musician (AKMU)

This sibling duo’s songs always make me feel happy, upbeat or sentimental. Their audience seem to be on the maturer side, very similar to Day6. There’s nobody like them, as their sibling chemistry creates magic!

Who do you think should compete?
