#3YearsWithMonstaX – Started From the Bottom Now We Here…

Starship Entertainment’s sexy, boisterous and multi-talented male-idol group MONSTA X, are celebrating 3 years since their debut. Their popularity has increased rapidly, and with one world tour under their belt, they’re about to embark on another one at the end of this month!

Behind all of the make-up, sharply tailored suits and stage outfits we have 7 men who fought against each other, and 6 other trainees, to earn their spot in the internationally successful septet.

CJ E&M’s ever-popular Mnet broadcasted a show in December 2014, which saw 12 male trainees (plus 1 in the middle), battle it out to reach the ultimate debut dream. “No Mercy” ran over the course of two months with 10 episodes, where celebrity judges and the general Korean public voted for the final line up.

The program consisted of team missions where both individual and group efforts were critiqued, and the eliminations were cut-throat and emotive. These guys had worked and trained together for large amounts of time, and then all of a sudden a new trainee is thrown into the mix…

In comes I.M 아이엠!

Let’s just say the guys weren’t happy…

They were so mean to I.M 아이엠! There’s a clip where they return to the dorm, and he’s just standing outside the living room, all alone. Kihyun 기현 then tells him to come in and sit with them; then one-by-one, they all leave.

It’s funny to look back and see the rest of MONSTA X’s 몬스타엑스 의 reaction (wait, they weren’t even MONSTA X 몬스타엑스 back then), in comparison for the love and care they show for I.M 아이엠 now.

Fast forward to 14th May 2015 and the boys debuted with their very first single “Trespass”, with their mini album sporting the same name. With 6 mini albums, one full studio album and a repackage, MONSTA X 몬스타엑스 have gone on to appear in adverts, tv dramas, variety shows and have accumulated sponsorships via clothing lines and more. They have cracked the Japanese market, and have been working non-stop, even before their debut.

Japan love them some MONSTA X 몬스타엑스!

Not only do they sing and rap extremely well, Jooheon 주헌 and I.M 아이엠 write their own raps, and Wonho 원호 has also composed and written songs for their albums. Jooheon 주헌 wrote “In Time”, which was featured on “The Code.”

Hyungwon 형원 aka DJ H.One has DJ-ed at events and festivals in Asia, as well as modelling at Seoul fashion week with Minhyuk 민혁. Kihyun 기현 graduated university whilst maintaining a busy schedule and Shownu 셔누 is currently studying a Masters in Economics?

We love multi-lingual kings!

During their first world tour, they took it upon themselves to learn words and phrases from South American, European, Asian and South American countries.

All in all, the MONSTA X 몬스타엑스 take over is inevitable, and it has already begun! 2018 is looking to be another amazing year for MONSTA X 몬스타엑스, and they’re about to set foot in new territory once they embark on their 2nd World Tour.

Congratulations to MONSTA X 몬스타엑스!  You my boys! Your musical talents are getting better and better with each release, and I know you’ll continue to excel to the highest heights!

I’ll see you in London…

Here’s to many more years of success, and endless opportunities!
